If we come together and then approach the college as a body it will be a good step to nudge the colleges to give us the first slot. That will make sure we are also not compromising on our quality. A substantial show of number will prevent the colleges from neglecting us. Specialisation also plays a special role,in case we don't have the required expertise we can then forward the job to them provided we maintain the professionalism.

In Kolkata companies that hire in bulk are given the preference even in small colleges. This trend persists even if we offer better packages. This is the main issue that we should be addressing first. If we join forces this would be quite an advantage for us.

We have to change our culture as well. People think that people from outside states don't come to Kolkata. But people from Kolkata do go out. We should make efforts to make initiatives that improve Kolkata's brand image.

Job shopping is a serious problem we are facing. We have seen that people who have been staying in the company for the long term are the ones who are productive. In the initial few months of joining people are not productive. Job hopping has increased a lot recently and hence has also impacted the productivity of the company with only 20-30 per cent of the people being productive. This needs to be minimised.

While we speak with the students they have a preformed mindset that well-established companies are good but when they come across smaller companies in Kolkata they assume there will be no growth. On the contrary, they get more projects and exposure in startups rather than anywhere else.

We are working on the idea of sharing resources collectively. We are looking to broaden this attempt and are looking for more such initiatives. Usually, in recruitment drives, colleges prefer companies that do mass hirings and give preference to the brand name. So when we go to hire all the good talent has mostly been hired by these companies. We need to find a solution for this. If we make a pool of companies and put them together we can also do mass hirings. That will persuade the colleges to allow us on the hiring scene early on during the placement season.
If we come together and then approach the college as a body it will be a good step to nudge the colleges to give us the first slot. That will make sure we are also not compromising on our quality. A substantial show of number will prevent the colleges from neglecting us.
