Mr saptarshi Basu spoke on the ever relevant topic of how IT has affected our lives. He emphasized on how IT has pervaded our lives irrespective of our social and financial background. The common man needs IT for everything whether something as small as transferring money from digital wallets like Phonepe or travelling from one place to another. IT is required in every field ranging from education, business, hospitals, and banking. He elaborated on the importance of information technology with emphasis on how IT can transform businesses . He took examples from the field of medicine and health care discussing how x-rays ,CT scans, MRI etc aid in this field. He also elaborated about the ease with which we can now do shopping with the advent of sites like amazon , ebay, Phonepe etc .He then talked about ITs role in environmental studies by utilising technology for doing remote sensing to predict natural disasters, precipitation, sun ray cover etc. A revolutionary technology is Google Earth which helps us to navigate the areas so smoothly nowadays instead of asking passerbys direction. He said that the most important advantage that we have in this pandemic is due to IT. It has helped us do disease mapping , situation analysis for hotspots, contact tracing to quarantine people and stopping the infection from increasing further.

IT has been a boon especially for its role in giving us the chance to do Work from home and given us the gift of flexible working hours in the middle of a life altering pandemic. Virtual offices have given people limitless opportunities to connect to their office system and keep on monitoring things in the office environment. This has led to a rise in productivity in the office situation after an initial adjustment time. IT has also given us social media for self expression. We can now publish writing,create blogs and post images showcasing our creativity. He pointed out the shift in power that has taken place from the steel industries in the early industrial revolution days to the IT companies now. He ended the presentation with the point that now the fight is not going to be about acquiring real estate but about acquisition of the minds of people and how technology has unleashed this new age of business by giving us the chance to do better inventory management , ERP and decision making systems.

Mr Goyal started his presentation by giving instance of how he has been a core manufacturing engineer all his life and was very much scared of IT for a long long time till it became inevitable to use it . He then shared his journey and learnings about how embracing technology has helped him in his business which was a very core manufacturing industry i.e. steel forging industry . He then elaborated the role of technology in the core manufacturing sector. IT solutions not only made the process less cumbersome and more automated but also helped in drastically delivering in time insights, swift visibility and seamless innovation. It gave very quick visibility of order situation and implementation in factories. It helped in providing innovation so that the business isn't limited to just typical old school production. It helped in dealing with raw manual data records and simplifying complex processes . Theirs is a business engaged in a high mix low volume manufacturing activity and is involved in making 20-30 different components on a daily basis in varying quantities. IT helped in keeping that entire process and planning up to date by keeping track of shipping etc. He discussed how cost effective and efficient IT solutions are at managing the supply chain. He elaborated the use of technology in converting the manual drafting into software drawings , conducting forging simulation, determining grainflow in output , 3D modeling etc . IT helps you to improve production, manufacturing and reduce defects. At the end of the presentation Mr Goyal remarked on how technology has changed the world and told about the NGO he's working with and how it's providing education to children in remote areas with the help of tablets.

Mr Chaudhry focused on how IT can be used specifically for an industry whether it is small scale or large scale . He elaborated on the use of IT to manage data in one's company. A company has many kinds of systems powered by data such as transactions processing system , decision support system , decision automation system. The transaction processing systems captures, collects, stores and modifies the data . It helps in batch or real time processing , causes reduction in processing and lead time and order cycle. It reduces inventory , personal and ordering costs and increases productivity and customer satisfaction.

The decision support systems help in analysing information, judgement and choice activities and are more interactive. So if you have sales figures of the past months this system helps you to predict what kind of sales volume you can expect for the next month and if you need to do new hirings to manage surplus sales or reduce manpower in case of lack of it. This system can also be customised to suit the needs specific to your organization and focus on how particular activities can be optimised. The decision automation system uses an algorithm to take routine, recurring and well defined structured decisions. For example you can set a threshold level for your safety stocks so that you can make sure that when a demand comes in you have enough inventory to carry it out. He concluded his presentation by elaborating the benefits of IT and how it can give your business a tactical as well as competitive edge over the competition and make the organisation do better.

Mr Sahu focused on the very important topic of the need for advanced IT solutions in a business. He started the presentation by remarking how change is the only constant thing and how the world has witnessed a very drastic and swift change due to the pandemic. He put across the point that only by using advanced systems can you have an edge over your competitors and face new challenges in the business head on. He put his point across by playing a humorous yet eye opening video about why we should upgrade to advanced solutions in the present rather than to repent later when all is lost.

He then elaborated on how we can make our business faster and better and the benefits that advanced IT Solutions provide such as data integration . There are so many verticals in a business like marketing, production, post production etc . All these verticals come with their own huge amount of data which has to be integrated for providing information necessary for decision making and smooth running of business. Nowadays so many generic systems are available . When the same generic system is used by two companies in different domains for eq the restaurants and a T shirt manufacturing company it doesn't give them the best output for their business . Hence there is a need for the systems to be customised and this can be achieved by using advanced IT. These customised systems are not only faster and effective but also cheaper. He stressed on the extra burden that is placed by using standard systems made for everyone as . Irrelevant data has to be filled in the forms without which the forms will not be submitted. This poses extra hassle for the businesses using generic standard systems meant to be used by everyone.

By using niche technologies systems that are exactly required by us can be made . This also provides scalability along with the growth of the business. Old technologies don't provide scalability with ease whereas advanced technologies can be scaled accordingly in a short span of time. Extensibility is another factor that comes with advanced IT and helps in a more integrated way of conducting business as everything gets updated automatically . Niche technologies also offer more security against hacking and are more security to data. They also offer cloud based solution so that the businesses don't have to worry about servers crashing and loss of data.
